Wendy Cantrell
M.S. - Human Resource Management
Previous Degrees:
B.S. - Freed-Hardeman University, TN
Profession:
Education Specialist/Cardiovascular Services - Huntsville, AL

Wendy Cantrell had been a social worker for several years before becoming a Behavioral Education Specialist nearly twenty years ago with Huntsville Hospital, one of the largest, not-for-profit, community-owned hospitals in the country. "I knew that if I wanted to move up into a higher level of management and leadership, I'd need a master's degree," she says. "But I was so busy, I just didn't know where I'd find the time to do it. Considering a traditional university just wasn't a possible option."
Kennedy-Western University was appealing to Wendy for several reasons. She received academic credit for her many years of work experience and for the many courses she had designed and taught as an educator. A special plus for her was the ability to complete the program at her own pace. "When my work schedule was especially hectic," she recalls, "I could concentrate on those responsibilities and spend less time and effort on my studies. I was also very pleased to learn that I could select the courses that supported my professional goals." One of her favorite courses was the one on arbitration and mediation. "The information I learned from that course has proven to be a nice compliment to both my social work background and current employee development responsibilities," she says.
Jose Morillo
M.S. - Human Resource Management
Previous Degrees:
M.S. - Metropolitan College of New York, New York City
B.A. - Dominican World University, Dominican Republic
Profession:
Executive Director - Bronx, NY

Determined not to make his continuing education a disturbance to his family, Jose Morillo decided that a distance learning approach to his Master's degree would be the best way to find time to study around the needs of his wife and four kids. "My family always comes first," he says. "The kids need a father as well as a mother to help with homework and taxi them to and from Little League games and dancing practice. I knew I had to pursue this degree online."
Jose was impressed with the credit that Kennedy-Western University afforded him in recognition of his traditional Bachelor's degree and years of experience in human services. The courses that he selected for his program were ones that related directly to his day-to-day job. They also moved his level of knowledge into the realm of proprietary organizational management, a career field he intended to pursue with his newly acquired Master's degree.
Edward Stephany
M.S. - Human Resource Management
Previous Degrees:
B.S. - Rider University
Profession:
Senior Human Resources Manager - Pennsauken, NJ

While working as the Manager of Human Resources for a metals manufacturing company, Edward Stephany was concerned with the cutbacks and downsizing that was going on in his company and in the manufacturing industry in general. He decided that a Master's degree would give him an edge, but his schedule at work and home wouldn't allow him the time or energy to go back to the classroom.
He researched several online programs and found Kennedy-Western University's to be the best fit. "I wanted to make sure the content was good and that the flexibility of course material suited my needs," he says. "Kennedy-Western's program was a reasonable cost and I knew that the degree would be accepted in the business world."
